"In Most Cases, an Affiliate Will Get Burned" — Interview with a Proxy Seller
Proxies are a critical component of successful ad running. Poor-quality proxies mean accounts will get banned more often, and stable results become a distant dream. Facebook and other traffic sources closely monitor user behavior, so it's better not to give them any additional reasons to impose restrictions.
We spoke with proxy seller Alex about approaches to checking IP address quality and promoting a shop in today's market. We also busted a few myths about proxy servers.
How an affiliate marketer should work with proxies
Hey! We always start our interviews with an introduction and a brief background. Tell us how you got into the affiliate niche and why you chose proxies specifically?
Hey, in November 2021 I bought a course. That's where it all started. For six months I was exclusively doing affiliate marketing, running campaigns both in profit and at a loss: FB, Insta, the whole standard setup.
Over time, I noticed that people were constantly looking for proxies. There were a lot of them — a whole lot of them)

At this point, would you say you have a solid grasp of affiliate marketing or just the basics?
I understand the fundamentals, I understand the problems affiliate marketers run into. And I ran campaigns myself, as I mentioned above.

Tell us how an affiliate marketer can check proxy quality?
It all depends on the proxy type: static or mobile. With static proxies, it's fairly straightforward — fraud check, IP quality score, and so on. Services like those will do the job.
Mobile proxies, in my view, can't really be "low quality." Mobile proxies either work or they don't. The IP pool is the same across all sellers. Proxies can only differ in their fingerprint and the restrictions a seller places on visiting certain resources.
FB might get triggered by one proxy fingerprint during one period, then switch to flagging another. That's why you should buy from me — where you can change the fingerprint to whatever you need and have the ability to test things like that.

Residential proxies are fast, but don't deliver the same level of trust on FB as mobile proxies
We've heard that mobile proxies come with varying levels of anonymity — and that in most shops they're barely anonymous at all. How can an affiliate marketer check this parameter?
In most cases, an affiliate marketer will get flagged regardless. No antidetect browser or proxy can guarantee full anonymity. There are countless parameters a website receives from a visitor.
Starting with the fact that your timezone, OS language, and screen resolution — both yours and the one used when farming the account — don't match the GEO of the proxy you're using. There are a lot of details like that. Some of them can be checked on whoer.

You once mentioned that it's better to route proxies through a VPN. That way FB triggers less and accounts live longer? Please explain in detail.
Yes, because there are no intermediaries and FB sees that the machine is working "directly" through a mobile proxy. Whether accounts live longer — I can't say for certain. But that there are no checkpoints and FB trusts you more — 100%, proven in practice.

What should be a comfortable speed for mobile proxies?
I think 20 Mbit+ is enough for comfortable work.

Alex's proxy speed during one of the tests
From my own experience, Vodafone gives the best speed, but some sites may fail to load. With Kyivstar that doesn't happen. And is Lifecell in demand at all?
I can't recall any sites that the carrier restricted access to — feel free to share. In my view, it's the site itself that may restrict access as a security measure: the proxy is mobile, but the connection comes from a PC.
Alex

From your experience, which carrier's proxies work best for which traffic sources?
Based on what clients actually take. For crypto — Kyivstar. For FB, Instagram — Life and Vodafone. For checkers and parsers — usually whatever performs best in the given location. For farming or registrations — per the client's preference.

Is it true that a proxy seller can see the requests made by users connected to the proxy? Meaning they could leak bundles and other data?)
It's not entirely a myth, but it's not entirely true either. Decryption is possible, but keep in mind that every application logs and encrypts data in its own way. So it would take a serious effort to decrypt — a very serious one.
The IPs from which connections originate and where they go — the seller can see that, if the software allows it.

Proxy Shop Promotion Specifics
The proxy market is highly competitive. How do you manage to survive in this cutthroat space without a personal dashboard, a promotion strategy, or other perks?
One of our promotion strategies is word of mouth. Advertising, referral bonus campaigns, barters. A personal dashboard development plan has been in place for a while — everything will be rolled out when the time is right.
To stay in the market, you need to value your clients, make concessions where possible, and genuinely try to help with any questions they have.

Are you planning to build a user panel at some point? Do clients request it often?
Not once 😄

You respond to Telegram inquiries in 3–5 minutes on average. Do you handle them yourself or do you have a team?
For now, I handle everything myself.

Do most of your clients come through word of mouth right now?
Probably, yes 😄
Alex

Tell us about your referral program. How well does it actually work?
Honestly, it barely works, and I don't put much effort into maintaining it — but some clients do remember it and bring it up regularly.
If an existing client refers a new one, they get bonus days credited to their account. The number of bonus days depends on the subscription period the new client purchases. Longer period = bigger bonus.

How do you manage to maintain one of the lowest prices on the market — $30 per month of access?
By choosing the right proxy locations and following a certain growth strategy.

Webmasters who are far from this niche often think proxy sellers are making millions. Can you give a rough idea of what the margins look like in this business? If you don't want to share your own numbers, just give average market figures.
I can't really say anything definitive on that — it all depends on the hardware the proxy runs on, the servers, the software, and the location.
Alex

Do you guarantee proxy speed?
No, I don't. What I do guarantee is that I always deliver the maximum I can squeeze out of the proxy. If the mobile operator's tower is performing poorly, everyone suffers. What matters here is having multiple towers at the same location.

Speed can drop to a minimum when there are issues with the tower
Can you give a brief overview of the infrastructure without going into too much detail? To set up a proxy — do you need SIM cards + routers?
In short: modems, SIM cards, servers, software, the right internet connection, the right location, an understanding of how the network works — and an experienced person who can guide you.
Alex

Is the "neighbors on mobile proxies" thing a myth? Tell us — is it actually possible to check for neighbors on ports?
No, it's not a myth. A lot of sellers resell the same proxy to multiple clients. As for how to check — from the client's side, you can really only tell by a drop in speed or an IP change that you didn't trigger yourself.

The internet is full of guides on how to set up your own proxies on a shoestring. Tell beginners why that's a bad idea.
Some people think it's easy and simple. Let them try.

How do you manage to keep proxies running stably during blackouts? How long can the infrastructure hold on backup power sources?
UPS units, batteries, backup power lines work wonders. How long it'll hold — designed for 6 hours, real-world tests will show.
Alex

Will you ever offer proxies from other countries?
Maybe, haven't thought about it yet.
Alex

How do you control the integrity of buyers? They might be using your proxies for carding.
Just gut feeling and periodic log checks.

How does ##snya get access to Ukrainian IPs?
Nearly 2 years into the full-scale war, Russian arbitrage shops still sell Ukrainian proxies priced in rubles. How do you explain that as someone who knows this market?
Very simple — money. If they pay, there will be proxies.
Alex

So does that mean any Russian can just buy a Ukrainian IP address and do their dirty business with it?
Yes, easily. If you want, you can buy an IP address from any country — even Tehran, which has been under sanctions since 1995.
Alex

In your opinion, what would it take for the proxy market to completely cut ties with the Russians?
Money. The money would have to run out.
Alex

What are your predictions for the mobile proxy market in Ukraine? Are you planning to raise prices or change your growth strategy?
The market will grow, and so will service quality. Although right now there are fewer quality proxy providers than before.
We already have development plans for next year that will make operations more comfortable and significantly more stable. Prices will go up accordingly, but I don't think by much ✌🏻

Thanks to Alex for agreeing to answer both the easy and the tough questions. The proxy business isn't as sweet as it might seem. Once again, we've confirmed that proxies are not the place to cut costs — not if you want to run traffic consistently and without interruptions.
