Trustee Plus Crypto Card Review

Trustee Plus Crypto Card Review

Affiliate marketers have long used crypto as one of their primary payment tools. USDT and other digital assets can be used to buy accounts, proxies, top up deposits on payment platforms, and pay for various services.

Affiliates also frequently receive payouts in crypto and convert them to fiat via P2P services. This takes time, and a portion of the amount is eaten up by the exchange rate spread. That's why crypto cards with offline payment capability are the ideal solution for many media buyers. Today we'll cover a convenient virtual card from Trustee Plus

Card Features

The Ukrainian crypto market is developing rapidly, but this hadn't previously applied to crypto cards. They were mostly offered by foreign services, requiring verification with an overseas provider. In 2023, the situation changed — several 🇺🇦 solutions emerged.

In July, we covered the card from the Whitebit exchange. The payment instrument looked promising, but the double verification requirement meant few users made it to the final step. Today we'll talk about a more convenient alternative — the card from the Trustee Plus wallet.

The Trustee virtual card is issued by the Mastercard payment system for 5 years. It can be set up in the mobile app and used to make purchases at over 60 million merchant locations worldwide.

Once the card is issued, the holder can link it to Google / Apple Pay on up to 5 devices and make contactless payments at NFC terminals. Trustee Plus supports 24 cryptocurrencies, but for card payments you can use USDT, BTC, or ETH.

The crypto payment process appears seamless to the user, but several operations actually take place under the hood:

  1. The merchant sends a charge request in a specific currency.
  2. Trustee checks the account balance in €.
  3. If there's no fiat available, the crypto is converted to €.
  4. The merchant receives the fiat.

The service charges a fee of 0.5% of the transaction amount for crypto-to-€ conversion. It's also worth noting that payments in UAH involve double conversion: crypto → €, then € → UAH. In this scenario, losses amount to ~3% per payment.

The developers highlight that the Trustee Plus card is unique in that it can be easily added to Apple Pay — something other crypto solutions have yet to offer.

Key details:

  • card maintenance: free;
  • crypto top-ups and transfers: 0%;
  • crypto conversion: 0.5%;
  • transaction limit: €5,000;
  • monthly limit: €50k;
  • ATM cash withdrawal via NFC: €1 + 1%;
  • issuance fee: €10.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

To get the card, you'll need the Trustee Plus app and verification. Completing KYC via Diia is the most convenient option — simply submit digital copies of your documents through the interface and wait for approval. Alternatively, you can upload photos of physical documents.

From September 1 to 5, the card was issued for free. Now issuance costs €10. We joined the promotion in time, so the screenshots don't include the card issuance payment screen.

Step-by-step issuance guide:

  1. Complete verification and wait for the "Identity Confirmed" status.
  2. Open the "Card" tab and tap "Get".

Once the card is successfully issued, all that's left is to top up the account with USDT or some Bitcoin. You can also pre-convert crypto to € directly in the interface to avoid additional conversion at the point of charge. For 5.4 USDT, the service gives 4.96 €. Losses start from 0.5%.

Note that Mastercard has its own exchange rates for currency conversion. You can check the current amount before payment to make sure the losses won't be critical.

Testing online payments

Affiliates can use the card for offline purchases as well as online shopping. Conveniently, the wallet and card share the same balance, making it easy to move funds in both directions.

We tested the card by making a donation to the "Come Back Alive" foundation. The payment went through without any issues. The account had 5.4 USDT; 4.57 dollars were converted to 4.2 €. The fee came to just 2 euro cents. In hryvnias, it shows 79 UAH, which equals 2 €.

As for payments to foreign services, issues do come up from time to time. A payment to a proxy seller and an accounts store failed several times due to transaction declines on the service provider's end — on the fourth attempt, the proxy purchase finally went through.

Anyone working with FB ad accounts will definitely be interested in using the card for ad spend — and for good reason: Trustee issues BINs from the Polish bank QUICKO SP Z OO. Some checkers incorrectly show US, but that's not accurate.

Another great feature is the ability to withdraw euros at ATMs across EU countries. The monthly limit is 20k €, with a fee of just 3 € on that amount. The app also lets you donate directly to charitable causes: support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, medical aid, and Ukraine's reconstruction.

The Trustee card covers an affiliate's everyday payment needs — from FB accounts to fueling up at Socar during a business meeting. You can read more about it in our full review. Whether to get the card or not is entirely up to you, but 10 € is a small price to pay for the convenience.
