How an OnlyFans Agency Works: The Adult Content Business From an Owner's Perspective
There are many myths surrounding the OnlyFans business, and information about growth in the adult content niche is closed off and hard to come by. We invited the owner of an OnlyFans agency and the Telegram channel "Щоденник онліфанщика" to share a detailed breakdown of how the OnlyFans business works, what roles exist within it, how much employees and owners earn, and other specifics of working in the adult content niche.
Opening words from the OF agency owner
Guys — and maybe girls — hello. Today we're going to talk about what is probably the most promising and most stable niche as of 2024: OnlyFans. There's not much up-to-date information out there, the niche is closed off, there's no clear way in or out, but today I'm going to lift the curtain a little so you can appreciate adult in all its glory — at the request of Palai Media.
You've probably heard plenty of jokes about OnlyFans, and about the kind of money being made here. Well, now you'll find out how it actually works. And the most important question: why am I even writing this for you?
Well, the more people know about this niche, the easier it is for me to find staff as I scale. And given my nearly 5 years of experience in OnlyFans, it's unlikely anyone will catch up to me fast enough that I won't notice. I always keep a few aces up my sleeve 😎
How I became an OnlyFans agency owner: my background and experience
My first job was at McDonald's — I lasted 2.5 weeks, realized there was no money in working for someone else, quit, and through connections ended up at an escort agency, first as a manager and then as an owner.
It's 2019, and the same contact who brought me into the agency tells me: "There's a new thing, loosely related to what you're doing, some guys need hands on deck, the money isn't great right now but the potential is there." After a week of thinking it over, I left that job — there was no growth in sight.
I joined one of the first OnlyFans agencies in Ukraine and we started grinding (not like that). It was a disaster. No understanding of how the work was structured, zero organization in every sense of the word — just two walking wallets who had opened the thing and that was it. And this wasn't like today, where everyone knows about OnlyFans; back then nobody had even heard of it, so it was tough going.
I stuck around for just over a month, got my bearings, and was promoted to a targeting/Reddit specialist role — even though at the time I didn't even know what FB Ads was. But I already had a decent handle on Reddit and Twitter from personal use; I even ran my own blog there at some point. That turned out to be the key factor. There were simply no Reddit specialists in Ukraine back then, and I started making real money. Revenue was growing fast, and by the end of 2020 — after nearly a year and a half working in the office — I decided to go out on my own, because COVID was raging and I wanted something of my own that I could run remotely.
In the end, I built my own team, and for almost 3 years now I've had my own crew of employees, a closed-type agency, 12–15 models, and a stable income that lets me reinvest earnings into real estate. It sounds great, but trust me — the road wasn't easy.
I started hitting $10,000 in net profit on my 11th month of solo operation, and after that it took off — COVID plus the war were two massive boosts, the girls were already in the know, supporting software appeared, and overall the work became much easier.
OnlyFans as a business: how it works and where the money comes from
Overall, if you look at OnlyFans as a business, it's probably the best thing that's happened to me, and the effort I've put into it has paid off more than enough.
OnlyFans is a pretty unusual business that doesn't resemble anything else — and yet, for those just getting acquainted with the space, it's very similar to affiliate marketing.
Why the OnlyFans business isn't for everyone
Let's put it this way: if a regular media buyer walks in here and tries to apply classic traffic methods, in 99% of cases they'll go negative — and that goes for absolutely everything.
The well-known Traffic Devils guys came to me for a consultation at one point because they were in the red on OF.
And why? Because OnlyFans is a specific vertical that requires a precise methodology. Without it, you're unlikely to make it work — especially on the first, second, or even third attempt.
The adult niche operates in its own lane, and what works "elsewhere" simply doesn't apply here.
Since this business is still fairly closed off, digging up relevant information online is extremely difficult. There are a few decent articles from the West, but their approach is simply not applicable to running things successfully. Information can become outdated within a month or two, and the articles you'll find online are already 2–3 years old.
How the OnlyFans business is structured: the basic framework
I'll say it upfront: OnlyFans is not just some "quick flip" — it's a full-fledged business unlike anything else, with its own quirks, pitfalls, and need for a tailored approach. It generates serious revenue and earnings, and at the same time it's a relatively legal operation — at least in the EU and the US.
If someone tells you "This business is easy, we'll set it all up in no time and take off" — run from those people, they'll leave you with nothing)))
In general, the workflow looks like this:
Find a girl.
Create accounts for her everywhere needed, including on the payment system.
Pass verification so we can post 18+ content.
Send her a content brief and wait for photos/videos.
Warm up the page.
Drive traffic.
Close guys in DMs.
Collect our dollars.
Cash out our evergreen $$$$.
The principle is straightforward, but every aspect has its own nuances and caveats — as always, as with any business, there are plenty of technical specifics that prevent everyone who wants to from simply jumping in and making big money.
Where the money in OnlyFans comes from and why there's so much of it.
To start from the beginning — porn was, is, and always will be… This adult niche, and not just OnlyFans, will exist as long as humanity does. Because porn and sex are a basic physical need that everyone has.
So, here are the two most common questions I get:
1. How much money is there?
There's a lot of money here, and the only limits are in your head and your moral and physical resources.
As an example, my agency generates monthly revenue ranging from $150 to $250k in the most profitable months. From that, net — after all expenses, staff salaries, and so on — I average between 25% and 35%, depending on how you negotiate with your team and the model.
2. Where does all that money come from?
This is the more interesting question, because most people think: "Why would I pay for porn when it's free on the internet?" And that thinking isn't entirely accurate. Sure, the most common customers are guys who are obsessed with everything and make one-off purchases of $20–30, but there's also a significant segment — men aged 30–40 who have no wife or kids, who are lonely, or who want a mistress but are too afraid to actually cheat, or simply don't have the opportunity.
OnlyFans agency structure: what team you need to operate
There are various roles here, which we'll break down now, but you need to understand that the biggest earner is the owner of the agency. Traffickers also earn well, but nowhere near the numbers that agency owners see.
Roles you'll typically come across:
chatter / sexter;
manager / recruiter;
media buyer / traffic arbitrageur;
model;
producer / owner.
Let's break down each role:
Who is a sexter or chatter in an OnlyFans agency?
Simply put — this is a person who manages a girl's profile and, on her behalf, communicates with the men who message her and sells them pre-prepared photos and videos.
This is the most entry-level role and also the least profitable. In 100% of cases it's a full-time position, either a day or night shift. The work can be either remote or on-site. Pay is most commonly a flat rate or a percentage of the shift.
Media buyers and traffic arbitrageurs in an OnlyFans agency
These people are key assets in any agency, since the volume of leads coming into an OF profile depends entirely on traffic.
They drive traffic at massive scale. They typically work fully remote and are paid on a percentage basis, though I've also seen setups where people are paid a fixed rate per lead (which is how I do it). The work itself is straightforward, but you'll get your head chewed off for poor traffic quality — frequently and thoroughly — just like in classic traffic arbitrage. The greater the responsibility, the greater the earnings.
The model in an OnlyFans agency structure
A model is not an employee — she's a business partner, and should be treated as such, without any condescension. A model can be a girl, a guy, a transgender person, or really any persona.
Models are always expected to deliver content on time and in the required volume, as well as shoot custom content on demand as quickly as possible. And, where required, to complete verifications.
Producer or Owner in an OnlyFans agency
And the producer — that's me. This person can come in two forms: the first is someone who has been through every level (sexter, manager, media buyer) and then launched their own operation (like me). The second is simply a businessman with capital who can act either as an investor or as the full management layer. This is the most profitable and, at the same time, the most responsible role.
The key here is the ability to take ownership and understand how certain technical processes work.
Overall, this niche is quite diverse and flexible for each individual, which is a major plus. Many agencies have their "own" custom roles — I've described the most common and foundational ones that exist in every agency.
Where to get traffic for OnlyFans: the main issues with traffic sources
There's a notion that you can simply run traffic from Facebook or Google to OF and start printing evergreen money. I'll say it straight — that's a questionable idea, and it's almost guaranteed to burn your budget and leave your investor unhappy, because you won't be able to deliver on their expectations.
Why running traffic from FB or Google isn't a silver bullet?
Facebook creatives only work within a narrow window, and the approach to running traffic to OF is completely different from white-hat or grey-hat traffic.
Unfortunately, if a media buyer or traffic arbitrageur with no adult niche experience takes on this work, they won't be able to run it effectively — because in adult, we have specific working funnels that deliver multiples far higher than standard traffic setups.
If you're thinking of entering this space as a regular traffic driver — I wouldn't recommend it. You'll only end up in the red, unfortunately.
Why don't creatives burn out in OnlyFans?
I'll keep it short — effective funnels here don't burn out, you can run them continuously, and the returns are higher. The most common question from media buyers and arbitrageurs is why creatives don't die here. The answer is simple — it's the nature of the niche.
Adult is an inherently stable niche, and that applies to traffic funnels as well — there's a gold standard that will get you $10k on a profile without much strain. But if you want more, you start running your own tests to see what converts better and how, and at the same time, the spend required here isn't nearly as high as in traditional arbitrage.
Which traffic sources don't burn out when driving traffic to OnlyFans?
For example, the Reddit bundle has been running for 5 years already. Will it die? No. The platform has been around for over 15 years, and OnlyFans for 7. Over that period, revenue growth and ROI have only increased — as long as you do everything right and stay on trend.
In what other niche does a bundle last 5 years?) There's your answer. 18+ content has always been in demand and always will be, so bundle burnout simply isn't a thing here.
I'm attaching reach results from this bundle — with numbers like these, profiles easily generate $10k–$20k–$30k.
Accounts are also scaling well and performing — a few examples above. On these platforms, what matters isn't so much the follower count as how many subscribers actually land on the OnlyFans profile.
How much can you earn from an OnlyFans business: ROI on paid traffic
When it comes to paid traffic and its ROI, on average, it's straightforward: a good return in adult is ×5 — anything above that is f*cking amazing, anything below is not great.
Money and prospects
Now let's talk real numbers at the start of the journey, reinvestment, and scaling. Let's take a one-year timeframe and someone who has never worked with OF before.
What income can an agency owner realistically reach working with OnlyFans in the first year?
Within that time, you can reach a net income of $3,000–$5,000 per month from a single model. These are average figures when a profile brings in $10,000–$15,000 per month. More girls — more money. With real effort, you can build a small but fully operational team of 3–5 models within a year. These are average numbers from real practice, starting from scratch — and in reality, it can be even more.
As an example, take an average girl's account at $10,000 — you take 30% net, which is $3,000.
So the more models you have, the higher your profit. Here's how it breaks down:
2 models — your net profit should be $6,000–$10,000 net;
3 models — net profit is already $9,000–$15,000 net;
and so on.
These are the profit figures you can ultimately reach
How much do you need to invest?
I hear this question all the time, and it's not as simple as it seems. The "more is better" approach doesn't work in the OnlyFans space. What matters here is the right approach, the right knowledge, and covering the basic operational costs.
$400–$800 is enough for your first investment to generate your first profit in the $2,000–$2,500 range — after that, you scale it all up and consistently get ×5–×7 on your spend.

Why these specific investment amounts?
Because half of the traffic going to OF is organic (UBT). The other half is boosts, upvotes, and similar methods. Facebook doesn't play a key role in traffic here. And the cost of traffic to OF is quite low — which is exactly why the numbers look the way they do.
Here's an example from one of my students who, starting from zero, invested just ~$310 in his first month and generated $4,326 on his profile.
He grinded so hard — I'd never seen that kind of hunger to make money before. He completed every task, listened to every word I said, thought through his own angles, introduced a few genuinely clever tricks of his own, found a model, built a promotion plan that I helped refine, and went out and executed it. He put in about one and a half times more hours than a typical first working month, and got those insane results.
Is it realistic? Yes. Is it hard? Of course — but the result is worth it.

What about scaling?
In the second month, you can invest not $500 but $2,000, and your profit will grow proportionally. Again — these are real numbers in real conditions. What I experienced at the start, and what my students experienced too. After that, new budgets come purely from reinvesting what you've already earned. And you keep moving upward, step by step.

How does it work for me personally?
A profile brings in $30,000, and I take $3,000 from that for the next month's ad budget. Meaning that, in the end, I'm not putting any of my own money in — except for the initial launch.

What about personal time?
More is better — again, the wrong approach.
3–4 hours a day per model is enough to achieve the results I described above. The more models you have, the busier you'll be.
But this can be offset by hiring staff and building an additional team that takes the load off your personal time.

So, what's the bottom line?
Your own business. With your own team, and your personal, stable, and very satisfying income.

Final Takeaway
The work, while not overly complicated, does require a certain level of effort and knowledge at the start. In the beginning, you invest your energy and time — but eventually, it starts working for you, delivering results in the form of solid earnings, a high standard of living, and the realization that a regular job simply doesn't pay like this.
Proper preparation and the right combination of all the components are critical success factors. Hands-on practice matters enormously. If you're only given theoretical knowledge, you won't get far. My approach is practical. Owners need to understand every nuance and detail — so they don't lose big money and stay protected from potential fraud schemes. When you fully understand the entire process, it's impossible to be deceived.
But sure, OnlyFans is just selling photos — nothing more. If you've read this far, you're clearly interested in the topic 😉
