How 3D Technologies Are Changing the Approach to Creative Production

3D technologies are gradually becoming more integrated into affiliate marketing. They help ad creatives capture attention and keep users engaged longer than standard videos.

In this article, we explain how 3D technologies work in video creatives, why this format drives better user engagement, and cover the tools that let you produce such content quickly.

What Are 3D Technologies for Video Creatives?

3D technologies are tools used to create volumetric images and videos. They help make a product look more realistic and lifelike, showcase it from multiple angles, and simulate movement in space.

In affiliate creatives, 3D effects are particularly effective: they make a video stand out from ordinary content. They are most commonly used in casino promos, financial offers, mobile games, and by e-commerce brands for product showcases. Affiliate networks and brands use 3D creatives for media impact — to boost CTR and product recognition.

3D creatives also offer greater creative freedom: you can change backgrounds, product colors, object positioning, or add effects without having to reshoot the video — unlike working with standard creatives.

How to Create 3D Creatives: Tools and Examples

Blender is one of the most popular free tools that lets you model a product, configure lighting, camera angles, and motion. With a large library of ready-made templates and assets available in the public domain, it's accessible even for beginners.

The main drawbacks are a steep learning curve, high PC requirements, and long render times. While Blender itself is completely free, certain plugins are paid.

Spline is a popular platform for creating 3D videos. It's ideally suited for landing pages or short clips where you need to showcase a product from multiple angles. Its intuitive interface makes it easy to quickly build a model and add motion.

On the downside, it offers fewer features than Blender, requires an internet connection, and has long render times for large projects. A free plan is available, but commercial use requires a subscription starting at $15–$25 per month.

For creating volumetric content, you can also use Veo 3.1. This is an AI model from Google that generates realistic 3D videos from text or a simple clip/photo. The updated model introduces built-in audio with synchronized sound effects and dialogue.

In addition, Veo 3.1 gained reference-based generation tools (up to 3 images) and Scene Extension — a feature that allows you to "continue" already created clips by generating new scenes that flow seamlessly from the previous ones.

A new mode has also been introduced: Veo 3.1 Fast — a faster and more affordable model for video generation, optimized for the 9:16 social media format. We covered the capabilities of the Veo 3 video model in more detail in a previous article. Currently, Veo 3.1 and Veo 3.1 Fast are available under Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions respectively.

MockRocket is a free service for creating 3D smartphone animations. It lets you choose a phone model and instantly get an animation with your product displayed on the screen. The service is straightforward: upload a video or image, adjust the angle and background — and get a ready-to-use result.

The only downside is a watermark on the final output. It can be removed using DevTools by replacing the watermark-horz.png file with an empty PNG.

The 3D creative format opens up greater creative possibilities for affiliate marketing creatives. It helps showcase a product more effectively and captures attention — which is exactly what drives conversion best.
