How to Buy Telegram Stars and Premium with Cryptocurrency

How to Buy Telegram Stars and Premium with Cryptocurrency

Telegram is gradually transforming into an ecosystem that covers an ever-growing range of user needs. Recently, the developers introduced their own in-app currency — Telegram Stars. Stars can be used to pay for content and send gifts to friends.

We've put together a quick guide to help you buy Stars or a Premium subscription using crypto with minimal financial losses. Read on, put it to use, and stop paying middleman fees.

How to Pay for Telegram Services with Crypto

Telegram Stars were announced in June 2024 following a messenger update. For a while, there was no transparent way to purchase Stars, so the most eager users had to source them through resellers.

One of the main obstacles to buying the in-app currency at a fair price is the commission charged by Google Play and the App Store, as well as exchange rate differences when using local currencies. There can also be difficulties finding the menu responsible for Stars — usually, updating Telegram resolves this.

Price per 1,000 Stars depending on payment method:

  • Android — $24.31;
  • iOS — $26.10;
  • Windows — $18.71.

The difference between the desktop and Apple versions amounts to $7.39 (28%). There's no reason to overpay, so buying Stars with crypto is the smarter move. If you need 10,000–20,000 Stars, the difference in dollar terms becomes significant.

Resellers on forums and specialized marketplaces offer more attractive prices, but the origin of the Stars is unknown. They could easily come from compromised accounts, and there's no way to verify their "cleanliness."

The average price for 1,000 Stars from sellers is $18. But you also need to factor in a 2% payment processor fee and the presence of Russian payment providers. Most sellers are from sketchy backgrounds — which is a red flag.

Recently, an alternative way to buy Stars was added via the Fragment platform using TON. The service also allows you to purchase Telegram Premium with crypto. Credits are applied instantly once the coins are deducted.

To place a Stars order, you need to log in with any TON wallet, select an account, and choose the desired number of Stars. For reference, 1,000 Stars are currently sold for $15. The service doesn't factor in TON price fluctuations — the cost is fixed in USD.

Stars don't have to be added to your own account — you can gift them to any user. The only requirements are that your balance holds the necessary amount of coins and the payment goes through successfully.

The price of Telegram Premium on Fragment is no different from the desktop version of the messenger, but it eliminates the need to pay in fiat. You can swap USDT for TON and purchase the subscription without any hassle.

Stars can also be used to run channel ads via Telegram Ads. In this case, the only GEO restriction is Germany. You can target Ukrainian users and avoid paying agency commissions.

Telegram Stars launched just two months ago, and only a handful of users have had the chance to try them out. If you've been reluctant to enter your card details in Telegram, you can now use crypto to donate Stars to your favorite channel or send them to friends.
