Driving Crypto Traffic with UAC: Setup Specifics and Tips

Today we're breaking down the specifics of running crypto traffic through mobile apps. We'll cover minimum budgets, account warm-up, and campaign optimization.

Specifics of Running Traffic to Mobile Apps

Universal App Campaigns (UAC) is a powerful tool for promoting mobile apps, built into Google Ads. One of UAC's key advantages is that the system consolidates multiple ad placements: Search Network, partner websites, Google Play, YouTube, and the Display Network.

When running traffic via UAC, affiliates don't need to create dozens of creatives. The system asks you to specify ad copy, a starting bid, spend, GEO, and language for ad targeting. Once graphics and video are uploaded, Google's algorithms automatically generate creative combinations and test their performance in the auction.

Beginners should understand that Universal App Campaigns are primarily suited for those who aren't afraid to experiment — and to spend money doing so. Payment is charged per install, and the cost per app install can reach $3–5.

Google UAC offers 3 campaign goal formats: installs, conversion (CPA), and pre-registration. For crypto offers, the first two options are the right fit. It's recommended to combine target actions to acquire leads at a competitive price. To use the conversion-optimized model, a minimum of 250,000 app installs is required.

After a campaign is launched, the algorithms spend some time learning to find a relevant audience. During this period, conversion and spend metrics tend to fluctuate significantly before stabilizing. However, there are cases where an affiliate fails to achieve consistent results and has to shut the campaign down.

Experienced media buyers say UAC operates on the old-school principle: "If it's converting — don't touch it." It's better not to make changes to ad copy or other settings once the algorithm's learning phase is complete. Doing so can disrupt the flow of targeted traffic.

Useful Tips for Affiliates

Universal App Campaigns provide access to a massive target audience and allow you to run traffic without the storms of bans and waves of mobile app suspensions. That said, affiliates frequently run into freezes, payment errors, and high traffic costs.

When running traffic through UAC, Google's neural networks handle most of the heavy lifting — so affiliates should focus maximum attention on the setup. If accounts or prelanders lack sufficient trust, the affiliate will face freezes and other issues.

Consumables needed for running traffic:

  1. Accounts. It's best to use farmed accounts with a history of running traffic on white-hat verticals. These can be purchased from shops or directly from individual sellers and PPC agencies. It's a bonus if the profile has already been used for UAC.
  2. Mobile apps. The quality of prelander apps is just as important as account trust. They can be sourced from managers or app rental services. The selection for crypto is not as wide as for gambling, but options do exist.
  3. Proxies. If you're using a farmed account, it's best to match it with a unique IP from the same GEO it was farmed under.
  4. Trusted payment methods. There are at least 4 payment services from Ukraine available on the market. Personal cards can also be used, provided the limits allow it.

Finding accounts is easier than finding mobile apps, so we recommend paying close attention to this challenge. Apps don't necessarily have to be crypto-focused — something white-hat in the finance or business niche will work just fine.

The market lacks fully-featured SPY tools for UAC and Google Ads in general. Useful data can be gathered via AdMobiSpy, BigSpy, and SocialPeta — but don't expect ready-made bundles the way you'd find with Facebook spy tools.

Angles used in creatives:

  • "Earn enough to give your kids an Oxford education."
  • "Get rid of your financial burden."
  • "Multiply your deposit in just a few days."
  • "New crypto investment platform delivers x10 returns."
  • "Don't miss the next wave of crypto volatility."
  • "Want to invest in digital assets with no risk?"

Affiliates tend to lean on conservative investment angles in their creatives, with get-rich-quick messaging not always taking center stage. Crypto offers target an experienced and financially established audience — one that looks to invest without taking on unnecessary risk.

Always keep an eye on your install cost and avoid setting it too high. The system's recommended bid is typically up to $0.5. You can start from that figure and gradually scale the budget by 10–20% as the funnel gains traction.

Competition in UAC for crypto traffic isn't as fierce as on Facebook, but the niche has top-tier advertisers running millions of impressions and willing to buy installs at above-market prices.

The starting budget can vary significantly from case to case, but experienced UAC affiliates typically cite figures starting from $5k. Not every newcomer has that kind of budget, so it makes sense to sharpen your skills in other traffic sources first before moving into Google.

We recommend that beginners don't jump straight into offers with $500–700 payouts — start with smaller numbers for the niche. In this case, CPA is the ideal model, and from there you can explore others: RevShare, CRG.

The crypto vertical has broken many affiliates, but those who didn't give up after the first setbacks are now enjoying payouts of several hundred dollars per lead and quietly making money in the Tier-1 market.
