CEO Cloudflare: Bot Traffic Has Exceeded Human Traffic on the Internet for the First Time
Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince stated that automated bot traffic has surpassed human traffic for the first time in internet history. According to him, this happened earlier than predicted due to the rapid growth of AI agents and other automated systems.

As recently as spring 2026, the company expected the crossover point to occur only in 2027. However, the advancement of AI has accelerated the process.
Before generative AI, bots accounted for around 20% of traffic, driven primarily by search crawlers. Today, a significant share of the load is generated by AI agents collecting data to train models.
At the same time, public data from Cloudflare Radar currently shows bot traffic at 30–40%, meaning the company has yet to confirm a sustained dominance of bots over humans.
