Google Blocked 270M+ Gambling Ads in 2025
Google published the Ads Safety Report 2025, summarizing the performance of its ad moderation and publisher content systems across its ecosystem.
In 2025, over 270.7 million ads were blocked or removed in the "Gambling and Games" category — ranking ninth out of 16 categories by volume. Additionally, over 123.9 million ads were restricted in the "Online Gambling and Games" segment, making it third out of eight categories by volume.
Furthermore, over 9.7 million publisher pages received restrictions or sanctions for violating Google's online gambling policies.
Across Google Ads in 2025, more than 8.3 billion ads were blocked or removed, with another 4.8 billion restricted. The company also reported the suspension of over 24.9 million advertiser accounts. Notably, over 99% of violations were stopped before the ads were served, and 35 ad policy updates were rolled out throughout the year.
On the publisher moderation side, Google reports over 480 million blocked or restricted pages and 245,000 sites that received restrictions for policy violations. Approximately 97% of violations were detected using AI-powered systems.
It is separately noted that Google groups gambling and gaming products into a single category for ad blocking purposes, while online gambling is treated as a distinct segment in publisher violation reports.
